My husband's masterpiece

This was painted by Richard, age 29.

In his defence, he is very very good at making complicated spreadsheets in Excel, and he is also a very good photographer, and he makes fantastic cups of tea, and the paints were not very good quality.

In case you can't tell, this is a seaside scene with cliffs. (Although that should be obvious, right?)

Love you, husband x

I think your husband's painting style may be what is called 'naif'. This picture could be worth a lot of money one of these days......! Good for him for having a go. (If you are seeking specific comments, then maybe the sun is particularly impressive!)

I think it's a fantastic attempt! :)I love those brown and yellow dots on the grass... I am guessing they are lemons and apples? ^^

Um... I think they were supposed to be flowers! But I'll ask and report back.

He forwarded it to his friends and one of them replied with "Breathtaking. I am literally grinning uncontrollably".

Hello, husband here. Thankyou for your kind comments, but please don't mistake this as an attempt at Fauvism, rather than the abysmal attempt at Realism that it actually is :)

Sadly I have never been able to draw/paint to an acceptable level (except perhaps to a toddler) despite putting in a lot of practice when I was younger. It's just something I am not capable of, but don't worry, I've learned to live with it and I'm not bitter, although I am jealous of my wife's prodigious ability :D

I think your "Nude reclining in dandelions" is quite lovely! Don't let her tease you. ;)

Well, The is one of the best painting I have ever seen! I love how the speckled grass goes right in water and the square boulders go out in the distance. The glowing sunlight is such a contrast to the darkness of the lonesome soaring bird. And it is simply ingenius that everything seems to go up hill! How does he do it! I hope his painting hand is insured. Ahh....just kiddin'. It is really wonderful that he is supportive enough to give it a try. So, he still gets a thumbs up in my book, and that's what makes it a masterpiece:)

It is so child like and I like it for that reason. Each artist has a different way of painting and this shows the child artist in him.

I think he did a great job of painting the sea side cliffs.

I LOVE the flying bird, looks like a gull (I'm an avid birdwatcher)...

perspective is a bit skewed on the cliffs in relation to the ocean...and the sun? What can I say other than I'm glad it was a nice sunshiney day.

I love it, specially the bottom part with the cliffs and the sea - not so sure about the sun though.
